Create a text clipping containing the '@' character

I needed to create a text clipping that contained the "@" character, but couldn't, because MacOS creates dragged text containing an "@" character as an email link. See for yourself: Select the following text -- xxxx+yyyy -- then drag it to your Desktop. This creates a text clipping file named xxxx+yyyy.textClipping. Now select the following text -- xxxx@yyyy -- and drag it to your Desktop, and notice that the file is named xxxx@yyyy.mailloc, and its icon says MAILTO. If you drag and drop this text into a program, it will get pasted as mailto:xxxx@yyyy.mailloc. The solution requires editing the xxxx+yyyy.textClipping clipping file. This requires several steps: Extract the contents of its resource fork into a temporary file (using a receipe from this hint) Edit the temporary file Write the temporary file back into the resource fork. ...

10.5: Run Automator workflows from AppleScript

A couple of older hints, such as this one and this one, discuss running Automator workflows from AppleScript. Leopard, however, has built-in Automator support on the Unix command line, which can be called from AppleScript using the do shell script construct. Temporary CAPS Lock for iPhone/iPod touch

Because the iPhone/iPod touch support multi-touch, here's a simple way to temporarily type in all caps: Hold one finger on Shift, and use another finger to type your word -- just as you would with a "real" keyboard. [robg adds: While this may seem blatantly obvious to those who have adjusted to the world of multi-tap, I took a small survey -- OK, so it was me and the one other iPhone user I could find online at the time -- and discovered that 100% of the respondents hadn't used this method of temporarily typing in caps on their iPhones...so perhaps this will be useful to more than just the two of us.]
